should i add my ex back on facebook?

we broke up 7 months ago. a lot happened between us. we tried to be friends after the break up but i felt it was me making all the effort. i kept adding and deleting him off facebook. i havent had any contact with him for 5 months. im scared if he might think i look desperate and want to get back with him. i do want to get back with him, but i dont want to make it seem obvious. if i do add him and he accepts how can i give him the vibe i dont want him back?
