I’m dating a new guy, but i’m in love with my ex.?

I broke up with my fiance after 5 yrs. b/c I fell in love with my lab partner. We are both applying to med school & have a lot in common. It was the best 3 mos. of my life! My skin began to glow! It was heaven! Suddenly, he broke up with me! I had been too needy. He said I should take some time to be single for once & love myself. We remained friends. The next 3 months was the worst time of my life. Everything came crashing down. I also lost my best friend and my 1st job out of college. After 3 months I began to manage ok. 2 weeks ago I sent my ex a letter telling him for the first time that I was in love with him. I said all I want is to make him happy. I felt like he didn’t like to talk to me. I said I would leave him alone b/c he knows how to get ahold of me if he wants. I haven’t heard from him since. I’m trying to move on. This new guy REALLY likes me, but he pales in comparison to my ex. I want my ex to love me back! New guy is nice. What to do? Stay with new guy?
